Reasons For Purchasing Virgin Coconut Oil For Skin

By Zelma Hurley

There are literally hundreds of expensive moisturizing products being touted as the solution to the dryness and aging dilemma, but as usual, Mother Nature outshines them all. It is now being revealed how one product can help balance the body, both inside and out. Now an inexpensive virgin coconut oil for skin can do all this, and more.

Most oily moisturizers are petroleum-based, carcinogenic, and actually clog pores resulting in acne. While this product might feel a bit oily at first, it is absorbed rapidly through the pores. Unlike the cancer-causing petroleum products, this actually improves the complexion as it lifts and tones the face.

One certainly does not want to forget the water-based moisturizers that those with acne-prone skin flock to. Unfortunately, once the water evaporates, so does the moisturizing effect. Most of these products are terribly over-hyped on the market, terribly over-priced, all the while containing a whole menagerie of unhealthy ingredients such as fragrances and parabens.

It is the women of Asia who have brought this particular product to the world market, rather by accident really. Asian cultures tend to be isolationist in nature, and so many centuries went by without the world knowing the benefits of these oils. However, as Western women, both from Europe and the United States, have spent more time visiting the countries of Asia, these little health and beauty secrets have gotten out.

These Asian women utilize this as a food source as well, having made many stir-fry dishes in this way over many centuries. Western medical doctors will warn against using it as a base food or ingesting it in large amounts, but the fact is, nothing should ever be ingested on its own in large amounts. An acceptable use in stir-fry, on salads, and added to tea can help balance blood sugars, increase metabolism, and maintain the body in a healthy alkaline pH balance.

When consumed, one should seek out the raw and unprocessed product. Hydrogenation, the adding or removing of a hydrogen molecule, bleaching, and adding fragrances all alter the product molecularly, and thus alter the effects it can have for the body. Seeking out an organic version will also help guarantee that it has been created without the so-called assistance of genetically modified organisms.

The fact is that hydrogenation, bleaching, and adding fragrances to a product which is intended to be utilized as a food source actually damages the liver. Because this is not necessarily sold as a food item, it might not be marked that these additives are totally foreign to the body, and tend to build up in the liver rather than being properly metabolized. When consumed, it is often added in small quantities to stir-fry dishes as well as salads or teas.

A small amount of this stuff goes a long way, whether it is being consumed as food or used as a moisturizing agent. It has been said that a dime-sized amount will moisturize the body from head-to-toe, and that might even include a decent head of hair. Many women have been able to replace all moisturizers and hair-care products with this one, all-natural ingredient.
