Now as an athlete, one will be going through a lot of training that will wear out and tear his muscles all around the place. Now one of things that would happen when a muscle is worn out would be tightening in the affected area. Now one has to also take note that if the muscles would get affected, then the ligaments of the bones and the joints will also be too. One has to know that the skeletal system and the muscular system are both connected which means that if one wears out, the other one will follow. It is for this reason that therapists are also trained to know how to align ligaments and handle tissues as well.

Now one has to look at the musculoskeletal system as a whole because they are connected. Since they are connected to each other, then if one gets affected the rest of the parts get affected as well. So start first with the muscles and then go on to handle the other parts of the skeletal system.

Of course not only will this help with the short term performance of the athlete, but it will affect the long term health as well. Now if an athlete would have a part of his body that is not dealt with properly, he might get some muscular conditions like arthritis and other types when he gets older. So in order to prevent this, then it is vital that he gets a regular massage from his therapist.

Now as much as possible, an athlete should get a massage after his training. This is important because he will inevitably tire out his muscles from all the training. So he should receive his therapy so that his muscles will not bunch up.
